its important to understand that commonly the term weed refers to a plant that grows where it is not wanted...so it depends on where you are and what crops are grown there to get weeds and crops relevent to your area, country-eg im in Australia but you may be somewhere with different weeds effecting different crops....Technically 'weedy' plant species have a propensity to reproduce rapidly.

Techniques to control 'weeds' involve, phisical, chemical and biological methods, but these days integrated pest management is the buzz phrase meaning a combination of methods can be used to the best effect soully using chemical methods can be counterproductive and attack non target species and have long term run on effects in the wider environment eg DDT
