37 weeks pregnant, what are contractions?
I've heard that contractions start like period cramping, really bad period cramping, but if everyone has different pain tolorance, how can one be so sure. I had polycystic Overary syndrome before getting pregnant, and those pains I would get were pretty darn painful, but I learned to live with it.
Everyone tells me,when I get the contractions I'll know, but how will I know if sometimes, I feel like, its more like gassy pressure building up, and sometimes, I feel backpain at it's worse. Sometimes, I feel like nerve pinching pain in my back that my knees get weak and I have to hold on to something, but my belly doesnt hurt its my back.
this is my first pregnancy, and I guess I just don't know what to expect, and sometimes, I feel its useless asking, because every one is different, but there is bound to be someone out there that may have had the same experiences.
Thank you in advance!

You are right that everyone is different but most of us understand that with the first one you don't know what to expect. With my first one I had no clue either and ended up going in 3 times for false labor because I was dehydrated. But when I went into labor I had back labor...it did start out as an ache in my back but I felt no pain in my belly. It is not uncommon to have "back" labor. Check with your doctor!

I don't think I could explain what a contraction feels like but when you have one you will know. You may be having braxton hicks, that is like a mini contraction so your body will be able to deliver easier. When you have a true contraction your belly will become very hard and it is even visible. I was at a baby shower when she went into labor as I could see her contractions. When they were at 5 min. apart I ask her if she knew and she said it was a little tight all day of and on. She had a baby 6 hours latter. Myself 2 hour 10 min. and I was holding my son. Every delivery is different.

I think that if they stay like that for over a hour or so, it wouldn't hurt going to the hospital and getting a Non stress test to see if you are having contractions via back labor. ive never had it so i couldn't tell you what it feels like. the worst thing could happen at the hospital is they send you home- but at least you would then know those pains aren't due to labor.
hope all is well! and that you see your little one soon! i'm due soon too so i know how you feel!

i think you should ask your doctor about that cause he/she is going to tell you for sure if you are or aren't. but if you are really worried about it i would suggest going to the ER. congrats and good luck!
