Heroscape customizing???
My son is 12 and totally into the whole Heroscape thing. He wants to start making custom pieces to add to his collection, but neither of us has any idea where to get figures to convert into heroes. Does any one have any suggestions? How would we go about printing cards to go with the custom characters? He wants to make pieces that will fit in with the others easily. Thanks!

Try looking for game miniatures online. A few sites that might help you get started:
a nice selection of unpainted fantasy and some scifi pieces.

A huge selection of figures from many companies. Most unpainted but they do carry the D&D and Star Wars minis.
For more fantasy oriented figures, try the D&D Miniatures, which come prepainted. Look for single figures you like rather than buying booster packs of random figures.
Modern and scifi type figures are harder to find (particularly if you want them prepainted). However, some of the Star Wars Miniatures figures might be useful, once again, for your purposes, I'd look for singles rather than packs.
As far as the cards go, I wouldn't try to match the look of the original cards, that's going to get pricey, if it's even doable. Just write the stats out on an index card or something similar.
Good luck.

The comics and game shops I've been to lately have bins and bins of prepainted miniatures from Heroclix and other miniatures games. They can be bought for very cheap. That's where I'd start. Large lots of those same kinds of figures can also be found on eBay as well as whole sets of Heroscape Master Set figures. I second the suggestion to visit www.heroscapers.com. There are whole forum sections devoted to customizations. You can even access a pdf magazine called Codex that has articles about customizing figures.

Customizing of heroes is typically done using existing figures. There's a really good forum for folks who are into modifiying/modelling HeroScape figures at the link below.

If I had the money i would definitely buy one!!! I'm nt sure if people would actually buy these cars though. It seems like one of those things where you have to be a celebrity to own it. But yes I would buy one if i could!
