As other posters have said, you really don't want to remove IE. It's part of the OS and if you try to remove it you're asking for trouble.
IE is also needed for certain IE only sites. Windows updates and certain microsoft sites are one example. Some really bad websites also require you to have IE. You can fake it for them (get the right extensions) but might be good to have IE sitting around.
Finally, if you ever get into web development, you'll want IE around. You definitely want to test your webpages on IE.

You still need Internet Explorer to get Windows Updates online, but other than that you can just set it aside and forget about it.
There is a way to disable Internet Explorer. Go to Start>Set Program Access and Defaults
You can uncheck the box next to Enable access to this program. Just remember how to get there, in case you can't use a website with FFox. There are a couple! I am using Firefox too.

I am in agreement with you on Firefox. IE sadly is very integrated with windows, so to uninstall IE is not a good idea. You can disable it, or do as I do and simply not use it at all. It is safe to delete the IE shortcut from your desktop though.

I don't know but unfortunately some sites still require explorer I thought I had removed it then the guy's downstairs needed it to do there homework on-line for college. I had to use the search to find it but it was still there EXPLORER SUCKS but it is still necessary for some sites. Doesn't everything run so much faster on Firefox

I would use Firefox because it's faster and less viruses are made for it, but do NOT delete IE explorer. It's been with Microsoft forever!

i replaced into extremely transforming into bored to death with it myself. Everytime i tried to close the web page, i'd get a message that there replaced right into a difficulty and replaced into shutting down and would close all my tabs and then restart. I kept sending the files to microsoft to make certain a answer. finally, I recieved an person-friendly answer. the precedence replaced into an upload on! the answer replaced into to disable all upload ons and enable one after the different until eventually I found out which one replaced into the precedence! It replaced into the single I least in all probability suspected! My printer!! each little thing is operating fantastic now. no extra problems with my IE! I have Vista and that i love it!

Not recommended. IE is very intertwined with Windows...to uninstall IE could seriously destabilize the OS. Best to leave it alone and just not use it.

Microsoft says this IE is an integrated part of the operating system and cannot be removed.
