What is the penalty for not asking permisiion from parent???

If you do not ask permission from a parent to cut a child's hair while at the hairdresser how much legal trouble can you cause yourself??? A friend of mine says he can collect over $500,000 for it because cutting the hair ( it's a girl) without his permission constitutes "negligence" and that means MONEY IN AWARDED DAMAGES FOR HIM in a lawsuit.

I don't see it that way. He says the child is suffering excrutiating "pain" over the lose of her hair ...1 " trim of hair in the haircut!!!! And that he must make a special trip to India and say "prayers for her and light special oil" only India and the trip and expenses and well it goes on and on....until the bill is now $500,000. When I ask him who will i pay it , he says ...you figure out how you will pay me because I will win in court and you will be poor!!! YEAH!!! Punishment for what you did .

He is an extortionist looking for money and I will not give it to him.

Am I right????

If it wasn't your child, you had no right to have their hair cut without the parents permission. Some religions may have an issue with hair cutting which is what it sounds like if he says he has to go to India for the special oils.

Will he win?Probably not.But people sue for the craziest things today.

That's all very interesting, but the US courts would look at actual damages. Since hair grows back, they are unlikely to award more than a few dollars. The case would be worthless to an attorney, who would not take it on contingency; so he is likely to end up out of pocket if he persues it.

Maybe such a case would work in India, but not in America!

    Are you the other parent?

I would not worry about this. Tell him to go for it. He would never be awarded anything by any reasonably minded person. He is more likely to cause himself custody problems for tramatizing a child over 1" of hair.

OMG...I would ignore anything he says. It is ridiculous. Look, if he wants to take you to court, then let him. I'll bet you 500,000 that he won't.
