When it comes to law, justice is seldom the outcome. To a lawyer, what are ethics! Depending on your agreement with the lawyer, I cannot answer whether deleting statements without your approval is ethical or not. To the general public, I would say it is not only unethical, but probably illegal. As for lieing, it is unethical for anyone to lie but not illegal unless you lie in court. Hearsay is not admitted in court so I would say the counselor is out of line and damaging the case.
