My fellow conservatives, while I had difficulties finally reaching the conclusion not to consider Bush...?

to be a good president I am also finding it difficult to believe so many smart people who call themselves conservatives still do not recognize his failure in pushing the conservative agenda forward.

Where is the smaller government and controlled spending?

Where are the policies of destroy the enemy swiftly and without haste?

Where is the end to pork barrel spending the dems have been gulity of for decades?

Where are the true fiscal conservative values we so desire in a president?

I am sorry, it's not enough for me to accept him simply because he cut taxes and opposes abortion and gay marriage. He has had ample opportunity to do so much more, but has failed us who supported him for sooooo long.

Update:

I also think gay marriage and abortion are not things the government should govern. If I did then I probably would have not changed my mind about him just yet.

I really want marriage to have no influence in taxes and benefits.

Well there are more fiscal conservative in Congress now then there were. Too bad the new ones are Conservative Democrats. But then there was a time when Conservatives ruled Congress. Conservative Democrats AND Conservative Republicans kept those liberals in check. If it wasn't good for all the US didn't need it. Then came the time of LBJ and he declared war on poverty. That's when the Democrats went heavy into the tax and spend mode. Sadly the Republicans didn't carry out their Contract with America.

He is NOT a conservative, he is a "neoconservative", which is someone who wants to take away certain freedoms supposedly to promote family values, which of course means he doesn't want us to live in a free country where anyone can marry whoever they want among other things... these socially conservative projects which are so popular but are really fascist... but make no mistake about his financial policy... neoconservatives are like neoliberals, the actual definition of neoliberals, the ones who are into deficit spending, pork projects, anything for businesses and against any kind of international trade restriction, promoting business even at the expense of foreign and domestic workers not earning enough to live and working in substandard conditions. At least some liberals want to spend money on the people, but neoconservatives are into the same kind of deficit spending but for destructive and violent purposes.

I agree there were many things that he did not do..I think more could be done on illegal immigration and closing our boarders, but with what happened on 9/11 and continually fighting the Liberal Media it is hard to get things done when you are being called an idiot all the time...he was not the best President and defiantly not the worse...Sean, Palestinians are terrorist...I do not feel sorry for them...strap an bomb to yourself and blow up a civilian bus= Terrorist...why isn't any of the neighboring Arab countries taking in the Palestinians? hummmm....

So, with the help of targeted on electorate who've a reliable "faith".. they comprehend they could extremely administration them with not some thing more beneficial than words. Like a Shepard tending their flock.. the Conservatives have their sheep precisely the position they choose them.

The conservatives think we get some kind of charge out of seeing Bush fail. They think we have been critical of him for these many years for no reason

But if you are a TRUE conservative you have to be more dissapointed then anyone else about Bush's imbicilic failures

I truly wish that we had been wqrong about Bush

I would have LOVED to be wrong

But.... he has failed so miserably

    God save our country

i understand your pain.i also am somewhat disappointed.however we must look at what has happened during his term.9/11 was enough to take anyone off his agenda.

while i don't consider him a great president i do think he was at the wrong place at the wrong time and is adequate.

while he made plenty of mistakes and turned a blind eye to several pressing issues, one of which is illegal immigration,i would rather had him than gore or kerry.

Wow. I'm speechless. Who could ever imagine that? Anyway, congratulations on your ability to consider facts and change your position, however slightly. I have been dismayed by so many conservatives inability to do this that I am in a bit of shock. No, I'm not a liberal, just a moderate floudering in a sea of extremists.

Please read any of my questions or answers and you will see that I wholeheartedly agree with you except for the abortion and gay marriage (which I don't agree with happening, but I don't think the government should control it). Bush is an embarrassment to conservative ideals.

it comes down to this.. there are 3 types of people when it comes to choosing a party.. those that choose based on one or two issues, those that go for a greater overall likeness and may overlook an issue or two.. and those that don't choose.. many of those that choose based on one or two issues wouldn't care if he didn't do many of the other things.. so long as he took care of their reasons for supporting him in the first place...

P.S. I'm not knocking any of these types or people.. all parties have some of each.

I agree - he really could have done some wonderful things. I want to know why our borders are still open? Why don't they do SOMETHING about all the illegal immigrants?

As to destroying the enemy swiftly, we can't. We are trying to fight a politically correct war - there isn't any such thing.
