How long should I wait to recieve akc papers?

If you have called her with no luck, send her a certified letter, return receipt then. You have 1 year to register her from the date the litter was registered. Did the breeder give you the AKC numbers for the parents? I myself guarantee papers. If the papers are not back from AKC when the puppy leaves, the people have this in writing from me that the papers will be sent to them when I get them from AKC. This is rarely 3 months though. In my contract as well, the AKC litter number and the AKC number's for both parents are on the contract that the buyer gets from me. Papers are coming back faster now-a-days from the AKC especially when you register on line with them. There is nothing the AKC will do about this. If you never get them and have tried every attempt to do so, you will need to take her to small claims court over this. Right now, you do not need to worry, there is still plenty of time to register your dog. Another question for you, are you sure she is able to register with AKC? She could be suspended with them. Or the dogs might not even be AKC registered.

Yes, dogs need to be registered with the AKC to show them in AKC. A dog can be shown in AKC obedience if it is not an AKC dog, the dog needs to be purebred, altered, and pictures need to be sent in of the dog with an application for an ILP (indefinate listing privaledge) through the AKC. I am assuming she is in good standing with the AKC. Try contacting her again by phone and by writing. Explain to her that if you do not receive the papers on your pup that you will take legal action. Keep bugging her! LOL

AKC does not settle this kind of thing. It's up to you, the buyer, to have your bases covered when you purchase a puppy from any breeder. If your receipt says a registerable AKC Boston Terrier pup then call until you get your paperwork. There is no reason why the breeder should not have this taken care of and to register his littler before the pups were sold.

Would you buy a car without an ignition key? Then why did you pay in full when the pup's sale agreement was incomplete?

NEVER leave without papers. A good breeder registeres the litter soon after birth and the papers are in their hands before weaning. The papers ALWAYS go with the puppy.

You may be able to call AKC and see if the litter was even registered. If not...you will never see the papers. If the breeder hasn't gotten them in that length of time, they are not coming!!!!

in no way pass away the breeder without the papers. good breeders deliver the paperwok in whilst the domestic canines are 3-4 weeks previous so as that they've it for the puppy purchasers. Sounds undesirable to me!!!!! guess you haven't any longer have been given a freelance the two. Do you a minimum of have a invoice of sale that states what you paid and that it replaced into an AKC registered puppy????? Now days you may sign in the muddle on line and get the paperwork back in some week. No excuses for breeders anymore!!!!!!

You may never get them. You shouldn't have left without them! Typically, when the pups are about a wk old, breeders send off for the papers. They usually arrive within 3-4 WEEKS (plenty of time to go with 8 wk old pups).

They may need to know the sire and dam's names and AKC #'s.

If you know their names, you can look up their AKC #'s on the AKC website www.akc.org

When you open the AKC website, let the front page load completely. Click on the tab that say "STORE". Once the next page loads, scroll all the way to the bottom and click on DOG LOOK UP. Select your breed, and type in even just part of the name and it will give you a list of dogs with that in their name. (Hopefully you know the sire and dam's names). It give their AKC # next to the names.

Have you tried calling the breeder and asking where the papers are? If so to no avail, contact AKC.

The breeder may also be holding the papers - Check your contract, there could be a stipulation that the breeder will hold the papers until you send proof of Nuetering/Spaying the dog (Many breeders do this).

I don't know what your rights are but i would call her every day and ask her were the papers are. You can also try going on to akc.org the should have something on that or they have a question area too. They would probably need the breeders name and address. If they are a breeder who offers akc papers they will know. This is one reason you pay high dollar for papers it helps weed people out who do this kinda thing. Hope this helps.

you need to contact the akc cause my first chi was supposed to be registered and i had to end up contacting akc on this person and that was after waiting 9 mos to get the papers from the breeder . learned a valuable lesson . never leave the breeder w/o the puppy papers.good luck,god bless and happy holidays.

Boy do i know what you are going through! I bought a male pekingese off this woman almost a year ago. when i went to pick him up i didnt know she should give me the papers then. she said she would send them. 4 months later and about 100 phone calls to her she finally answered the phone and said she already sent them. i called akc and they said she never registered the litter and there was not much i could do about it. needless to say when i took lil gizmo to the vet to be checked over (we were gonna breed him with my female) the vet said he had a hernia and couldnt breed. so we got him fixed and had the hernia repaired. to make a long story short we paid $400.00 for him plus all the vet bills (surgery,shots,ect) this was a big learning experince for me. always check out the breeder and do lotsa research.by the way gizmo's almost a year old and i couldnt imagine life without him. i hope you have better luck than i did! merry christmas!

The puppy papers should have been given to you the day you purchased the puppy. Call her and tell her you are going to contact AKC if there isnt a resolution to this ASAP. It is very possible that you will never get papers, but you can take her to court for damages. Some people are very dishonest. In the future make sure you have puppy papers in hand before you leave. If her she is selling AKC, she will be more than willing to get this resolved quickly as AKC will investigate her and possibility pull her rights. Good luck, be firm and stnad your ground.
