Gift Cards are always an option.

But sometimes gift cards are insulting.

They can mean that you didnt have enough time to shop or that you are just letting them get their own thing.

I would probably go for your dad an actual gift.

Does he watch TV and complain he missed a show? Maybe he needs TiVo?i think the cheapest is $60 for 80 hours of recording.

Or maybe, a "IOU" for dinner just you and him?

Or even perhaps. Does he have any pets or live alone? If he has no pets how about a small dog, that is going to stay small. One that would require too much attention (like long vigorous walks) might be good. Might give your dad some company or just something to make him happy.

    Merry Christmas

I agree that food is a good gift... What about making some casseroles that freeze well and divide them up into portions -- depending on if he lives alone or with your mother. Be sure to label them. You could put them in his freezer and he could "unwrap" a gift certificate to how many ever dinners you made. Then he would have several gifts from you for a while.

Also, another cute gift is to do up a basket or tin full of popcorn with different popcorn salt flavorings and include some movies you think he would like or a gift certificate to Blockbuster.

Or you could look for a chili/coffee/hot chocolate/sausage and cheese gift set. My grandpa really loves when we get him that!

    Hope this helps!

My Dad is very hard to get for too. He doesn't want anything and though he is into sports he is full up with that sort of stuff.

So what I do is make him cookies and homemade quick breads and put a ribbon around it. Food is always appreciated .. especially from his own daughters hands.

Most men that age, have a thing about their car(s). Get his car detailed...It costs about $100, but the car looks, and smells like new. My Dad loved it.
