Who has notice that Nextel service...?
...has seriously deteriorated since merging with Sprint?
Well, 3 of us who all have different phones on the same plan have had crappy reception, dropped calls, and now we all get a "voice distortion" during calls. IT IS NOT OUR PERCEPTION. We never had these issues IN THE SAME AREA AND HOUSE until the merger happened. Glad my plan is up in April!
And I really love the fact when they have to check the phone for trouble, I have to call from a land line for it to be checked! So much for technology!

Its going to Nextel is IDEN where sprint is CDMA and they are changing Nextels towers slowly but shurly to CDMA which means you will get worse and worse services. Eventually their will be no nextel.

Sprint/Nextel has made a 6 year commitment to continue the IDEN Network and expand its coverage.
If your having problems it could be your handset or it is possible that the service in your area has changed.
Under normal circumstances the service only improves, but there are some instances where the service is affected by outside sources. I.E. new construction causing interference, or at worst a dispute of land owners having towers removed.

the svc hasn't really gone down hill. u just think it has. nextel is still a gsm technology and sprint is still a cdma. nextel merged w/ sprint cause their technology was outdated and couldn't afford to upgrade it. sprint is upgrading the twrs and svc may be temporarily changed while being converted but in the long run the svc will get much better. only certain areas have been converted so it should be rare that ur reception has chnaged unless u are in a metropolitian area.

its becuase it isn't a merger as they've lead to believe but that nextel was bought out buy sprint and has changed their veiw on their policies. also that since the merger nextel has doubled their consumers and what is happening with the decrease in service itself is network congestion, too many people in one location, not enough network room, hence dropped calls and issues with call failed pta 466/22 especially during nights and weekends.

I have had Nextel for 2 years and it has stunk from day one. I used to have Cingular and it was always reliable.
