Math HELP! HELP! NEED MATH HELP!?
Do the follwoing problems and show, or explain how you got your answer.
1. 10(2n + 10) = 120n
2. 6(X - 3) = 4(X + 3)
Please help! These are two problems from my Math HW and I don't get them at all! Please explain and give me your answers so I can follow your methods for the other problems.

1- 10(2n+10)=120n
20n+100=120n
100= 120n-20n
100=100n
n=100/100
n=1
2- 6(x-3)=4(x+3)
6x-18=4x+12
6x-4x=12+18
2x= 30
x= 30/2
x=15
best of luck

It looks like ur in seventh grade and ur learning about the distributive property.
In this problem, you are solving for n.
1. 10(2n+10)=120n
First, distribute the 10 to the 2n and the 10 in the parentheses because when a number is next to something in parentheses it means that you must multiply that number to whatever inside the parentheses.
so..... 10 x 2n + 10 x 10 = 120n
20n + 100 = 120n
Next, you need to combine like terms in the equation even if they are not on the same side of the equal sign. In this case, you have a positive 20n and on the other side there is a 120n. To get something on the other side of the equation you must add the opposite of that number. So you subtract 20n because it is a positive.
20n + 100 = 120n
-20n -20n
0 + 100 = 100n
100 = 100n
Now you are left with 100 and 100n. Since 100n is on one side of the equal sign and 100 is on the other, you must do the opposite. In this case it is 100 x n. Since the 100 is being multiplied by n, you must divide by n to get n all by itself.
100 = 100n
/100 = /100
1 = 1n
1 = n
That is your answer for number one.
2. 6(X - 3) = 4(X +3)
This is a lot like number one. Since you have parentheses, you must multiply what is next to the parentheses by what is inside. Let's do the left side of the equation first.
6(X - 3)
6 x X + 6 x -3
6X + - 18
6X + -18
*TIP* Whenever you see a subtraction sign, remember that you can change subtraction to adding the opposite. In this case the X - 3 can be changed to X + -3. This may not help now, but later it will.
Now that we solved the left side of the equation, lets solve the right side.
4(X + 3)
Now you multiply the four by the numbers inside the parentheses. Because they are not like terms (you can't add X and 3) you must distribute the 4 to the X and to the 3.
4(X + 3)
4 x X + 4 x 3
4X +12
Now in the equation you have:
6X - 18 = 4X + 12
Add the like terms -18 and 12 by adding the opposite to each side of the equation:
6X - 18 = 4X + 12
+ 18 +18
6X - 0 = 4X + 30
6X = 4X +30
Combine the like terms 4x and 6X by adding the opposite to each side of the equation:
6X = 4X + 30
-4X -4X
2X = 30
Now you need to do the opposite again. Since the two is being multiplied, you need to divide it.
2X = 30
/2 /2
X = 15
There you go. THe anser for number two is X = 15 and the answer for number one was 1 = n. Sorry if this took so long because I know it did but I hope this helps and you can use these notes in the future! :]

1.) 10(2n+10) = 120n *original problem*
20n+100 = 120n (multiply the 10 by 2n and by 10)
100=100n (move the 20n to the other side, but when you move it to the other side, you must change signs also)
n=100 (divide each side by 100
2.) 6(x-3) = 4(X+3) *original problem*
6x-18 = 4x + 12 (on the left side, multiply the 6 by both the x and the 3, and on the right side, mulitply the 4 by both the x and the 3)
6x-4x = 12+18 (switch the 4x and the 18, but switch the signs)
2x=30 (subtract on the left side, add on the right side)
x=15 (divide each side by two)
HOPE THIS HELPS!

10(2n+10)=120n do 10 times 2 =20n then 10 times 10=100
20n+100=120n do 20 plus 100 which equals 120 and just add n
120n=120n
Same with the other problem

1. 10(2n + 10) = 120n
distribute the 10,
20n + 100 = 120n
subtract 20n from both sides,
20n -20n + 100 = 120n -20n
100 = 100n
divide by 100 on both sides,
1 = n
2. 6(x-3) = 4(x+3)
Distribute both sides
6x-18 = 4x+12
add 18 to both sides
6x-18+18 = 4x +12 + 18
6x = 4x +30
subtract 4x from both sides
6x-4x = 4x-4x + 30
2x = 30
divide by 2 on both sides
x = 15

1. 10(2n+10)=120n
Use distributive property to multiply 10 by 2n and 10.
20n+100=120n
120n=120n
2. 6(x-3)=4(x+3)
Again, use distributive property.
6x-18=4x+12
Add 18 to both sides
6x=4x+30
Subtract 4x from both sides.
2x=30
Divide by 2.
x=15
To check your answer, plug in 15 where x is in the problem.

1) 10 (2n + 10) = 120n
Distribute--- 20 n + 200 = 120n
Subtract 20 n from both sides to get variables to one side and number to other--- 200 = 100n
Divide--- n = 2
2) 6(X - 3) = 4(X + 3)
distribute--- 6x - 18 = 4x + 12
Get variables onto one side--- 2x - 18 = 12
add 18 two both sides--- 2x = 30
divide by 2--- x = 15
The most important thing to remember when doing these equations is PEMDAS (the order of operations: Parenthesis, Exponenets, Multiplication / Division, Addition/ Subtraction.)
See why I distributed first? Because I had to get rid of parenthesis

1 and 15

well, first distribute the 10 so 10x2n= 20n and 10x10=100
20n+100=120n then you subtract 20n from both sides so 100=100n divide both sides by 100 so 1=n now try this method for the next one
