yes, any pharmacy will refill this for you, however, if they take your insurance is another thing. If burning 4 hours of gas is ok, to save 4 dollars, then drive on.

If you filled the Rx at a CVS, your local CVS can access the computer database and refill it just as if you got it there in the first place. At least MOST chains will do this.

Also, if you take in the bottle and it shows a refill remaining, they will sometimes fill it from that bottle. To do this the right way, they would call the original pharmacy and verify that you did not get any refills yet and call the prescribing doctor to verify that it is indeed your prescription. They call this "transferring" a prescription and they will do it to gain your business.

Assuming that the drug is not a Class 2 narcotic you can transfer the prescription to a pharmacy near you.

DRA regulations only allow C3 - C5 prescriptions to be transferred twice, though, so don't make a habit of having them transferred.

Take your current prescription bottle to your preferred pharmacy. They will be able to transfer your prescription for you. Some pharmacies have a linked system, which enables them to transfer prescriptions from other pharmacies withing their chain without having to call anyone. If your script was filled at a different chain, though, they will have to call and get the information from them.

Take your perscriptoin bottle to the pharamacy you now want your medicine at, and ask the new pharmacy to transfer your perscription. CVS and RiteAid are offering 20-25 dollar gift cards to do this. This is completly legal. It can only be transfered once. If you have insurance and you do an early refill, your insurance will not cover it. I find that COSTCO- OR SAM'S CLUB have the lowest prices on perscription dugs, and often less than my co-pay with my insurance at other pharamacies. So, when I am running low on my meds, I can transfer it to another pharmacy, by pass insurance and pay cash and get my medication. I have had to do this due to vacations, and NOT wanting to run out of meds. My doctor may offer to write 2 perscriptions for the same medication, 1 with refills and 1 without, for emergency situations like vacatioins, holidays, and unfortunate events that take us out of town like family health issues, or worse, memorial services. It's amazing sometimes you can just call your pharmacy of choice and give them the perscription number, pharmacy number and they will just call and transfer it for you!!

i work for a third party processor for pharmaceutical claims, yes you may refill it in a different area, you dont have to drive back, if you have questions to where you can get it filled in your home town, contact the number on the back of your pharmacy card, and ask them for in network pharmacies, they should be able to provide you a list, the original pharmacy would simply then just transfer the prescription to the pharmacy in your home town. Usually the new pharmacy either will call the old pharmacy for you to transfer the prescription over, or you may have to give the old pharmacy a call and tell them you want your prescription transferred to X pharmacy (provide the number and location).

there are of course exceptions depending on the laws of your state, the drug, etc.

But it is quite likely that you can get it filled at a nearby Pharmacy. Call the Pharmacy and ask.
