Can i get recommendations for a freeware front end for MySQL?

SQLyog is great. You can find it at http://www.webyog.com/en/

I recommend using it along with the Tutorial in section 3 of the MySQL Manual which is installed automatically with MySQL 5.0 or can be downloaded on its own from the MySQL site.

All the tools needed are on the MySQL website.

Also, if you have a localhost webserver with PHP installed, you can get PhpMyAdmin.
