You really can't, but you can control it by drying well and then putting some cooking oil on a rag and wiping it lightly. The best answer is to use a stainless steel whisk, no rust at all.

I have this problem with a cheese grater as well. I have no clue. I know I had bought at a Kitchen Supply store a metal meat tenderizer and I used it one time and washed it and put it in a strainer to dry and when I picked it up it was rusted terrible. I took it back to the store and didn't buy anything else like that and it was supposively made of stainless steel that was the funny part. Things are made cheap these days I tell ya. My mother in law asked why this new generation is such a throw away society attitude I said cause they make stuff cheap anymore it's like heirloom quality on things like it used to be. Now things are junk. I am sorry I couldn't help you but good luck all I can tell you is the same that the others say dry it well blah blah blah that's why I usually use a fork if at all possible....

I don't know, mine keep rusting and I let them air dry. I even spent extra on what I thought was better quality ones without buying the really expensive ones and they still do it. I'm thinking about just doing away with the wire ones and go with the teflon. Lose the hassle!

I am not being sarcastic but it really must be a bad one because I am an old lady and have never had one rust.....I just assumed they were all aluminum.....

Make sure it is dry before putting it away. Make sure it is totally clean and dry before putting it away, and take extra care if it has been used to stir anything acidic (such as any foods with tomatoes).

Each time it is used wash and dry completely before putting it away in a clean, dry storage drawer.
