my ipod says don not disconnect. what does it mean?

my ipod says do not disconnect what is wrong with it and it wont download any music can i get some help please

    you have to eject it just like a cd .......... on the left ....... right click on your ipod and simply push eject.

    Like any removable media storage device, you need to eject it from the system before you disconnect it. If you don't you risk losing the information stored on it. Just eject it though iTunes or the hardware icon in your task bar. It's a safety precaution, not a bad thing. If you mean that it still says that after you've ejected it, you must have a classic. Just wait for the bar to fill and the iPod to go to the main screen before you eject it and you'll be just fine.
