i'd hate to be the one to break it to you, but its absolutely making a difference, there is no way that the soda is not making you pack on a few! any drinks whether diet or not, contain sugars - too much sugar and not enough exercise, builds up and packs on into fats. please try break that habit, its incredibly bad for you. rather opt for filtered water and herbal teas only, stick it out for at least 3 weeks before you see a change! have a look at what else you eating and drinking, you need to create an energy deficit - so what you take in in a day should be less than what you work off inthe day -water and teas are boring, but i assure you - a month of maintaning that and you'll start seein the difference.soft drinks cause all sorts of problems and diet sodas have extra chemicals in the make them 'diet', and i'm sure you can imagine what effect those have! good luck and stick it out!

actually drinking diet pepsi alone cant gain weight because its true that's there is no sugar but drinking too much will crave you to eat more because your body signals what you drink dont have any carbos so you binge and that's why you are gaining weight. am i right?

    couple things here

one you need to look at overall calorie intact and expenditure.. keep a diary an on line one if fitday.com.....

2 there is a theory that artificial sweetners give you false sence of sweetness and disrupt your ablitily to montor correctly...

and the other theory is the artificial sweetner interfers with metabolish and hence keeps excess water in your system

aim for water or tea try natural sweetner alternaives

    try cutting back slowly

put juice ice cubes in your water for subltel taste... or lemon slices orange slices, etc or mint, cucumber slices etc...

    good luck !
