What do parents think about a Christian based After School program for Teens to get their home work?

What do parents think about a Christian based After School program for Teens to get their home work done and provide a safe program environment where they learn about faith, create meals for homeless, make friends, play sports, etc. No worries about who your child is with, what they are watching on TV or what they are doing on the internet..........

Would parents pay $3 an hour to have their teens in this environment? or what would Parents pay for this service?

I think that in theory it sounds like a good idea. However, I don't know about "Christian based." A lot of kids might balk at the idea of spending their afternoon/evening after school in a religious environment. Teenagers, generally, are not too fond of structured environments. They also usually associate "Christian based" with church or youth group. Plus, there's a large amount of the population that isn't Christian, and some kids might not be too excited about spending their afternoon with kids that are all the same. But if in your area, this is something that would work, then $3 and hour is definitely reasonable. Good luck!

History shows that strict religious upbringing can backfire. You should note that whatever you do - you are an imperfect non-God. As such, you cannot possibly think you will control all of your kid's influences. That being said, the program can be beneficial so long as you don't _forcibly_ push your teen into a faith of your choosing. Kids need to know that their judgment is trusted - that mommy and daddy trust them (with some bounds) - and that this Christian program was offered merely as an idea for the teen. In the end, guide your children to religion, do not force them. In my opinion, the choice of a religion is as private and important as the choice of your life mate. Do the best you can without forcing your kids, and hope that they choose the right path. If they do not, love them nonetheless for perhaps "right" is in the eye of the beholder.

If there is a need, and your service fills the need, then it is a good idea. $3/hr seems reasonable, so long as the parents and teens get their money's worth. Help should be availble -- good help, not just one teen talking to another. Attendance should be taken, records should be provided to parents. Strict hours adhered to. Safety is a big issue...where will the teen be doing this work? It better not be at someone's home -- look at the liability. Is it safe?

Most importantly, you must be able to answer this...What value are you providing me by your service that I must pay for, that I could not already provide at the teens home for free?

It sounds ok but it sounds a lot like youth group.

I wonder, also, about insurance, licensing and having enough people to keep an eye on the kids.

It's a good idea but I think it would be even better for the younger kids.

    Christian based? Big myth.

The largest and supposedly best in our area, wound up being an orgy fest................................

Five pregnant teens in one year, two rapes, six drug arrests, and two weapons confescations. All this occurred while under the supposed "Christian guidance." Do your research......don't rely solely on "Christian" as an indicator of value

Source(s): My car was broken into by those teen angels, which lead to arrests that exposed the pregnancies, drug issues and weapons charges that the organization wanted to cover up.

You would have to pay me...on second thought there isn't enough money...to send my kids to afterschool brainwashing. I'd rather have them goofing off, smoking, and having sex. At least they would be free to use their own minds.
