Invisaline Braces?

Anyone tried Invisaline? I am considering getting braces and am curious about these. I am a little old for braces and think these would keep me from feeling self-conscious. I am wondering how effective they are, if they easy to use, how uncomfortable it is, etc. Thanks!

Invisalign has worked great for my son. He spent 1 1/2 years wearing them, and the results are perfect. Each time he changed the "trays" (every two weeks) he would have some discomfort for that day, but by the next day he'd feel fine. Most people didn't even know that he had braces, and being 17 + he felt great about that.

They are simple to use - he placed them in his mouth and with a slight push they were tight on his teeth. The dentist put small, clear dots on his teeth to help the "trays" stay tighter. He wore them day and night, only taking them out to eat and brush his teeth. The only problem he had with a few of the trays were edges that were a little sharp that irritated his gums, but the dentist filed them down immediately (later we bought our own file and did it ourselves once or twice)

My only caveat would be to know yourself - are you disciplined, regardless of what is going on in your life? (I know that I wouldn't have been disciplined enough to follow through and wear the invisalign trays all the time) This form of having braces puts all the power in your hands (or mouth)... the more you wear the braces, the faster the results!

I do know that the invisaline isn't for everyone. I also know that they are more expensive than regular braces. If you are an adult, you might feel less self conscious with the invisaline although there are alot of adults who have the regular braces. My advice to you would be to make an appointment with an orthodontist who specializes in the invisaline and see if you are a candidate for them. They will be able to tell you at your exam, and you would take it from there. Be prepared tho, because it is expensive but it's definitely worth it. There's nothing like a great smile. Good luck to you.

These have only been around for a few years and I have not spoken to anyone who has had them. I too have some doubt. Supposedly you get results and are done in less than two years. I talked to an orthodontist about them and he highly recommended them but I am skeptical. They mean almost no work for the orthodontist aside from taking the initial impressions. A factory makes the actual series of plastic appliances. I cannot imagine that wearing something like this would move all the teeth in your mouth, and the main thing that bothers me is that they are removable! Take them off to brush and eat and your teeth are going to move back to where they were. You wear a series of up to 20 different plastic pieces over your teeth. The cost was $4000, same as regular braces. I personally decided against them. They don't make any sense to me as to how they can do this job.

I don't think invisalign can be used by everyone. I think it depends on how extensive the treatment is you need to align your teeth.

I am 31 and I went with the ceramic braces. They blend in with your teeth so you don't have those little metal brackets on every tooth, only the very backs ones on each side. The only thing you really notice at all are the ties and the thin wire that helps keep pressure on your teeth so they will continue to move.

Good luck! Embrace the braces! I go with all different colored ties. I don't care what people think LOL!! I have red and green ties on this month to be festive for the holidays! Hey in the end you'll have straight teeth so who cares???

I have not tried invisaline, I have regular braces.

Some of my friends use invisaline and it works well for them, not as well as regular braces would-and the cost is very similar, you don't really save anything. Plus! You can't be too old for braces, however I understand why you might not want them because of your age.

I know a lady in her late 20's who has braces, my Mother had braces in her 30's, and an "OLD" professor of mine has braces, and it's worth it!

Yes, go with invisilines. I havent had them but I did have braces (got them at 21).....I looked fabulous in my braces but I just wish invisilines were more widely available back then (7 years ago). Braces were a hassle and people just thought I was younger (much younger) than I really was. Its hard to be taken seriously at times- especially during work- while people are paying more attention to your teeth than to you! Either way, good for you for getting your teeth straightened. It will do wonders for the overall appearance!
