upload the DVD clips to your PC, then import them into Windows movie maker.. then you drag them down onto the time line and cut and slpice them together. The you drag music onto the lower half of the timeline. After that, it's mostly just a matter of clicking random buttons to find out what each does... you'll get the hang of it eventually. lol. Anyways, that's how I made my first amv. lol. And it actually got good reviews. lol.

    Gambatte!! (aka: Good Luck. lol)

omg, i love making amvs...sooo...windows moviemaker....sucks XD, but i guess you don't have another similar program now do you?

i use Sony vegas, but Adobe Premiere is better. Anyways, for begginers windows moviemaker is a starting point.

If you don't know where to find it (most people don't) go to: start-all programs-accesories-entertainment-Movie Maker .

There are 2 versions of Moviemaker: one WITH effects (thank God!) and one WITHOUT ( very sad when that happens). You can find out which one you have by simply looking into the uber toolbar, the one on the top. IF you have 2 buttons "Collection" AND "Tasks" then you are a lucky person, 'cause you have the one with effects. Sooo, if you're not lucky, then all you can do is simply put clips on music. Give a right click with your mouse and you'll see "import" or "import [something]", give it a click and import your clips that you have already saved to the PC. It will automatically cut it in pieces. Then import your song the same way and put it on the Storyboard. You can make the films longer or smaller by modifying their length ONLY in the Storyboard, not in the Timeline (these two can be switched between with a button on top of the Storyline/Timeline). And that's about all you can do.

If you're a lucky person, then click on "Tasks", and on the left side of the screen shoul appear a panel. You'll work with that alot. First use point one: "Capture Video" and click on "import video" and "import music", arrange your clips, and then move on to step 2 :"edit movie", here you'll use "view video effects" and "view video transitions". To add them to a clip you just click and drag the effect you want on the clip.

You can write on the clips with "make titles or credits".

After you finish the project, you need to turn it into a movie file, because if you keep it a project you are not allowed to delete one of the used files, because it won't play anymore.

So, you go to File-Save movie file , and you go through all those steps.

Right now, i just hope you didn't use Movie maker before,'cauze if you did,all this was fot nothing XD

Aa, and before i forget, to make only the song play, not the clips also, use the button set audio levels, it looks like a scale with an arrow reaching for the top of it, it's the first, left to right button on top of the storyboard/timeline.

You click it and set it to "audio/music" <this is for both versions.

if you've just decided to make an AMV, I reccomend you start out using Windows Movie maker which comes standard with any windows PC. It is pretty simple, actually. Import the files, split them, and synchronize them with imported music. Have fun!

im pretty sure you just save it onto your computer, split clips, and put different clips together and add a song.
