Is there something I can do to make my house less musty?
My apartment traps steam from the shower, and from cooking. But it's freezing here in the winter, and I don't want to open the windows all of the time. It's kind of dank and even moldy in here, which is gross. I've heard about some sort of crystals that absorb humidity. Do those work? Is there anything else I can do?

i think the product you are talking about is "Damp Rid". i don't know if it would handle your whole apartment though. i got a 2 pack of it for the closet and it worked in a small enclosed area. get a dehumidifier. good luck, and happy new year!

I have heard of what you are talking about. I suppose you could check with a local hardware store for this product. I would not put much trust in it as far as your health goes. I think you are living in a very unhealthy situation and I recommend you look for an apartment with better ventilation. I had the opportunity once to visit someone in an apartment with just the problem you speak of. It is no way to live, try to move. Good luck!

You need to control the humidity in your apartment. Consider installing (or request to if you rent) vent fans in the bathroom and kitchen. You must remove the humidity before the mold issue will go away. Visit horizon-inspections.com, mold page for more infromation. Feel free to email you if you have any questions. Good luck.

The crystals do work, my dad was telling me about how he used them down in our basement. I'm not really sure what they're called.
If my house smelled like must I would keep it, because I love the smell of must. :)
