in a quinceaneras, they have a court, where the bday girl is escorted with an escourt, and they often perform a dance. A quinceanera is more like a cotillion when i think about it. the 16th bday can vary among different people and is usually a big bang!!!!!

yes they are the same, but that dose not say that the
girl is on the market like someone else has said.
the deference is Sweet Sixteen is at 16 years old
Quincenera is at 15 years old.

Traditionally they are the same thing. A statement that the girl is now officially on the market. That statement being made by the family ofcourse.
