I need your best solution for ingrown hairs on men?
Hi everyone, my fiance is constantly complaining about painful ingrown hairs on his face. He always blames it on his afro/amer. descent. I think it's common for all races and want him to try a cleanser/moisturizer combo to soften the skin and hairs but am not sure if there is something better out there. In your opinion what is the best product out there? Is it something certain races are more prone to?

I recommend he use an ingrown hair treatment like Priva Shave, Tend Skin, Kalo IHT or Skin Doctors Ingrow Go.
Dark skinned men are particularly susceptible to ingrown hairs.
There are also special pointed tweezers for ingrown hair removal.
If he has very sensitive skin and has difficulty shaving everyday then he should try Ultra Shave. I use it as a skin healing moisturiser straight after shaving. It contains grape seed extract that is 15000 times stronger than vitamin E. Its completely natural and is also Parabenz free.

Its true afro/amer skin has more problems w/ ingrowns. I think he should shave down instead of up and perhaps exfoliate w/ a gentle scrub 2x a week and also there is a product out there called Tend Skin. Use this after shaving or on a bad area of ingrowns but becareful....it has a tendency to dry the skin out. Use a moisturizer especially in the winter months.

First off certain races are more prone to it. Dark coarse curly hair is a bugger for ingrown hairs. Men with this type of hair need to take a few extra grooming steps to prevent them.
Exfoliation is key to preventing ingrown hairs. Weather it be chemical exfoliation, AHA's, glycolic acid are a few good ones. If he is willing to see a skin care person (Aesthetician) at a medi-spa, or spa that can help him get some good products or even a few chemical peels. At home exfoliation with facial scrubs, and a washcloth will also help. If you exfoliate the topical skin it will not allow the hairs to become covered with the skin. Shaving with a blade in the direction of hair growth will also help.

It's a problem some black men encounter when they shave down to the skin. The regrowth is curly and wants to curl under the skin. There are powders that work kind of like Nair: he puts it on for so many seconds and then gently scapes if off with a plastic thing that comes with it. Razor Phree is one brand. There are others. Sounds drastic to me, though. I have seen twin blade razors designed for black men that have some really thin wire around the blade that doesn't let it get right down to the skin. I don't know if any of my black friends have tried them, but I suspect an electric razor would do the same thing.

the only thing to do is to buy a beard trimmer and sahve with that. using a regular razor will cut the hair and whaen it grows back it grows into the skin
