How much space occupied by the universe? If it is infinite, how can you say?

I think that universe has a end point.

If universe has no end, then we consider universe as a black hole because there is no point of return even light. Light is traveling every time to reach the end.

well we don't know for sure but what I believe is that our universe is not infinite, nothing goes on forever, it has to end somewhere! although there are videos out there (such as on break.com) which show that we're a mere speck in the universe.

no man space is space... as in countless space. things fill it called planets and stars... there is no end to space... space is space

geez think about it ppl! what do u think there is a magic barrier out there?? space is empty.. not composed of anything... u can't have an end to something that isn't there! Space is just a way of saying nothingness... that has something inside of it!

ok I have to write more... the crazies are out again! Listen the "Big Bang" is just a THEoRY!!! THERE IS No DEFFINATE PRooF! For all they know there were multiple big bangs... and what more we do know there are many galaxies all traveling towards 1 place... the super sized galaxy. yea thats right there is a huge galaxy out there and after we collide with andromeda galaxy we will eventually end up there! Listen space is just a word to describe a place that has nothing in it. Now u can put planets and suns in it... its still space occupied or not. Is in infinate?? YESSS

THE BIG BANG did not create space... it created the light energy and matter. geez ppl he is talking about space.. which is infinate. Now, does matter and light energy travel on forever??? well since we can't travel faster then light... as far as we will EVER know it is infinate... and if u were to try and find the ends of the universe... u would travel for eternity cause it would expand faster then u could travel... get it???!!!

It may or may not be infinite spatially, but what is certain is that it is not infinite temporally. The big bang can be more or less dated, and this places a maximum extent to the time the universe has existed. As nothing can exceed the speed of light, this also places a maximum extent on the accessible universe, and this is clearly finite even though it is expanding.

According to the Big Bang Theory, the universe is constantly expanding. For our concerns, it might as well be infinite, we're never gonna reach the end unless either we master the art of moving through wormholes, which will almost certainly not happen in our lifetimes, or we get a giant crunch, in which case we'll all be dead (and DEFINITELY won't happen in our lifetimes).

I think infinity is an artificial concept, except with regard to time or eternity.

  • It's considered as infinite, because it's beyond what we could ever see or comprehend.

That's a really interesting way of looking at it. For the real answer, if there is one, ask a physicist ;)
