My six year old son has an adult tooth coming out behind the milk tooth that should have fallen out, problem?
He has both his two front lower incisors coming out, the milk tooth already fell out for the one that is coming out normally, the other one is growing behind the milk tooth and coming out at an angle.
Is this a problem? Will the milk tooth fall out naturally, or should I take him to a dentist?

With the permanent tooth growing behind the baby tooth, it didn't push it out. You'll probably have to take him to the dentist to have it yanked out. Start putting away some funds now, looks like braces are in your future.
My husband had a milk tooth that was pulled out about 3 years ago when he was 27 years old, lol. So it will stay in place. His permanent tooth didn't grow where it was suppose too in order to push it out.
BTW, someone there must watch Lazy Town. Judging by your name. It's such a cute show. I have a 6 year old daughter and a 2 year old one, so that how I know Sportacus.

What you are describing is not that unusual. Most likely the milk tooth will eventually fall out on its own, of course, but in the meantime his mouth will be a bit crowded. I would think that the only thing a dentist would do is pull the milk tooth, which might be a bit traumatic, and the dentist won't want to do that unless it is essential. When the milk tooth falls out the new one will move forward to fill in the gap. I would wait a week or two and see what happens. The milk tooth is probably loose now.

The same thing happened to my 5 year old. We took him to the dentist and since his tooth was loose they did not do anything. They did say if his baby tooth did not fall out in two weeks to call. His adult tooth moved into place after his baby tooth fell out.

Yes, take him to the dentist. If he doesn't get the baby tooth pulled, it may affect the permanent tooth underneath. Good luck.

yes, see a dentist. The fact that the milk tooth remains can leave the permanent tooth always crooked if it isn't dealt with.

Take the child to the dentist... he might need to have it pulled. It MIGHT fall out on its own, but he is going to have a problem with his teeth being crooked. Good luck..

i help out a lot in my sons k class room. i have seen a few kids that have had their adult teeth grow in before the other one fell out. I would give it some time before you took him to the dentist

Let a dentist look at it. I had this problem, and my bottom teeth were crooked for a while, but eventually my jaw grew enough so that they straightened out. If it doesn't correct itself naturally, braces could be in his future!

You should take him to a dentist, because it's not good to let teeth grow like that.
