Any side affects with the use of alcohole while taking lexapro?

Doc said there was no real immediate threat, other than the contradicting affect it might have, but I was thinking it's probably not a great idea changing the chemical balances back and forth up in the old noggin and was wondering if any one knew of any studies pertaining to the subject.

your Dr. said there is no real immediate threat.

that means there is a threat of some kind .

ask a pharmacist your Dr, is goofy for telling you that.

any form/kind of drug/medicine should not be taken and drinking

If you read the bottle and package inserts it will tell you NOT to drink while taking this medication. I tried it before and went into an unexplainable rage. I dont recommend alcohol with any SSRI or antidepressant. These drugs are caused to correct a chemical imbalance. The alcohol will make the imbalance worse.

I have just spent a horrible several days with my daughter-in-law (whose Lexapro dose was doubled) who had a reaction because she took Lexapro with Advil and then chewed Nicotine gum (I mean she got truly psychotic and was about to commit suicide but I caught her in time) ....... and I have been reading all about this drug. My best advice is DO NOT TAKE ANYTHING with Lexapro; no aspirin, Advil, nothing and especially no alcohol and not smoking of pot or any other psychotropic drugs.

Alcohol is contraindicated for ingestion of Lexapro - why push it?

Do yourself a big favor. Drink water - lots of it and eat good meals but do not take anything else with Lexapro.

Alchohol, in terms of mood, acts like a stimulant first, then it acts like a depressant. It ups you and then it downs you. Why add a roller coaster to your mood issues?

Besides, SSRI's have lots of problems. They're extremely potent and you have to watch out for fugue states (where you're dissacociated and don't really know what you're doing) and suicidal feelings transitioning into homicidal feelings. Lexapro made me very compulsive.

That said, a beer, one drink probably won't notice an effect. Anything more than that, watch out.

Assuming that you take Lexapro for bi-polarism, I think you should do some research on this drug!
