I am wanting to import my videos from my sony mini dv camera...?

I have a gray cord and i tried to import to windows movie maker. I did a couple of tapes and listened and i didn't have any audio. I know when I took a class last year we used firewire with our cameras but is that because without the firewire you cannot download the audio? I would like to do it with the cord that was supplied if it is possible.

I am having nearly the same problem as you. So far the answer is Firewire. Firewire is the only type of cable available that will transfer video from MiniDv tapes to your computer. If you are still having trouble transferring the audio in addition to the video, you may want to make sure it isn't the camera that's causing the trouble. Firewire (also known as IEEE1394) is your best bet for transferring video and audio to your computer. Good luck.

You don't say what the supplied cord was, but I guess it was USB. The class was right when it used firewire, as it is very difficult to tranfer video via USB. The speed of the transfer just cannot keep up with the speed of the camera and computer. If you used USB that might be the reason you have no audio.

of direction it relies upon on the digicam- however the mini DV camcorder will furnish extra helpful video. a minimum of mine does- and that i've got a three 365 days previous sony mini DV and an 8Mp digital digicam.
