I have worked all my life. I served my country as a US Marine, I worked in the same industry, but in many, many capacities, including that of business owner for 20 years. I am indeed satisfied that I have worked my entire life, have never been on disability, although I've had my fair share of injuries, and have never collected un-employment compensation. I consider my actions over the years as part of the solution to world problems.

What I believe is my biggest accomplishment is having had seven children, all of who have a formal education. We have seen these young people earn at least three graduate degrees, so far, and the younger ones haven't even begun their post graduate studies. We accomplished this feat in a number of different ways. Out of pocket played a big part in much of the cost for higher education; that combined with grants, scholarships, student loans, campus work, summer jobs, and even credit cards, when money got real tight.

My part is done! The graduate studies are their responsibility, but I've said that before. I see this as my greatest achievement, because college was not an option in my family, it was mandatory! We didn't have advanced savings to prepare for these expenses, we simply addressed them as they surfaced. It can be done, and we didn't need the government doing it for us. It might take a little sacrifice on the every body's part, but it is do-able.

Wow. Hard question. I would have to say it is the little things. I don't ever feel proud of myself for the big things either because it would be rude or just because once I do them, I feel that they weren't that hard to begin with and so anyone could do them.

I feel most proud for the little things that I do right like not screwing up dinner, making a good desert, buying someone a nice present, helping someone with a box, or an item that they can't reach. For some reason, those things seem to mean more to me than the larger milestone markers.

Lost 30 pounds with only exercise and cutting my portion sizes in 5 months.

  • Two years ago I saved a mans life. I never thought about it until recently when he invited me to the baptism of his first child. If I hadn't of done what I did, that child would never have been born. He's named after me.
