The most known and appreciated Linux distro for Mac is Yellow Dog Linux; Ubuntu also offer a Mac version, community support is big.

On sites like Distrowatch you can search for other version, if you like.

You can run Linux on Macs just fine. Just make sure you get the version for PPC (PowerPC) because that's what a Mac uses.

What you probably did was get the default distribution, which is for x86. Windows computers use x86, but not Macs (until very recently).

Remember, it must say explicitly PPC or PowerPC.

desktops on the full are build applying "well-known" factors - factors that would desire to artwork with windoze. Apple, i think, has been very proprietary and used ingredients superior particularly for the present apple working procedures (or vice versa). besides, my wager is that there are extra Linux flavours that artwork nicely with desktops than with Macs. in spite of the undeniable fact that, under no circumstances having put in Linux on any Apple products, it relatively is with ease a wager on my section. I even have set up Linux on many particular manufacturers of desktops (laptops and desktops) and that i've got no longer generally encountered issues. you're able to desire to probable be choosing which Mac is of perfect interest and googling "your mac determination Linux" and observe what comprehend-the type you supply you. Google "IPad Mint Linux" is what i might use if i had to google wisdom on journey with putting in Mint Linux on any version of an IPad. i've got no concept if it is available or no longer, in spite of the undeniable fact that it is the format for the variety of seek.
