You got it cheap. I drooled over a Custom Royal II with blue-polish finish and beautiful wood grips and it was about $875. Usually the concealment models sell more than the full-size models (volume of manufacture determines the asking prices a lot of times). I picked up the standard custom II when it was "on sale"($639!-still expensive). You did more than "a little good".

I think that is an excellent deal for the cost in comparison to something new. HOWEVER, read gun forums and you will often see posts of comments of how small .45 kimber 1911s are not nearly as reliable as other guns. They are sexy looking things, but it seems to me they get far more "they are not reliable" comments then other guns. This includes handgun training instructors who see them fail a lot. You may be buying that gun cheaper because it might not be very good.

that's probably about right. a kimber pro carry is a good gun to have. over a lifetime, the $100 haggling won't make that much difference. keep it and pass it to your kids.

That's about right for a Kimber. I would think about getting some Crimson trace grips

The Kimber is the best quality factory 1911 pistol on the market today. They seem to sell at just under $1,000.00 new these days. So, you got the best quality pistol at a low price. You did very well.

It's a very good gun. If you are going to shoot hollow points, you might need to have the feed ramp polished...

Yes, that's exactly what I have though for much less than I paid. I haven't had any issues with it.
