How much traction does kitty litter provide?

I have had 4 people get stuck in the snow in front of my house today, and am wondering if the bag of kitty litter I have will help the next folks or would it really be enough?

Update:

I don't HAVE rock salt, I only have the kitty litter because I have a cat. I am not stuck, cause I am not going anywhere. Just wondering if the litter would really do anything to get someone else's car unstuck.

I have used kitty litter before for myself, and I cannot say it gives you a lot of traction. The sand-like litter is just a slippery as the snow and ice. However, If you use the "Yesterday News" litter, which is rolled up newspaper, it works a lot better.
