Is it true that in the year 2000 that on the 1st day they showed new year from around the globe?

My TV was broken so I have no clue.

    Yes! It ended with some little island nation in the ocean having a very quaint celebration!

    Yes... they did because of the Y2K.

    The big fear was that if they got it wrong... everything would stop as every computer in the world would revert to the year 1900.

    It cost the world many billions of dollars to add the 2 extra digits (19) on the date of all programs running on computers.

    In the days when computers had tiny hard drives... someone had come up with the idea of not using the first 2 digits of the year (19) to save space on their hard disk.

    They sure did, still do. In 2000 I believe they were expecting some major disaster, just another day.
