The phone company can check to make sure there is not a tap on your phone. They can change the cable pairs and get rid of a floater,

    (person on your line)

that maybe there from a previous line.

Unless the FBI, CIA or Police have a legal tap on your line.

Then they just tell you it's ok and leave the tap....

The problem with hiring someone to see if there's a tap on your phone is that it is illegal. I work for a telecommunications company and if anyone such as the FBI, the local sheriff, or even a city police chief has sufficient reason to tap your phone, they can legally do it. However, if you think that someone is illegally listening in on your conversations, you may want to get in touch with your local police department.

Just remember this, if anyone requires that your phone be tapped, the telephone company has no control over such things if they are legally done.

A private eye because it could be someone at the phone company who is tapping the line.

If you have a bad echo effect. Its "supposedly" illegal from a direct line. Use a phone over 900 MHZ.

Just call the unlawful call center, they can tell if your phone is tapped.
