Washburn, Ibanez, and Fender have good beginner models. I think the is a very good beginner model: Washburn D100 http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Washburn-D1...

The best thing you can do is go out and try a bunch of different ones in the store and pick the one that feels and sounds the best. Make sure to have the people at the store put on new strings for you if the strings are really old because you like the feel of the guitar but unsure of the sound.

Choosing which type of guitar you want to start out with can be difficult. There are many differences between the two such as the sound it produces. I would suggest that you start out with the acoustic guitar because the electric can be tricky with all the wires and buttons and knobs to deal with. But the electric is easier to play because the strings are lighter and the width of the frets is smaller than the acoustic. With the acoustic guitar you have to push down harder on the strings and stretch your hand more. It also depends on the type of music you listen to. If you like rock than you would probably think that the electric comes easier because you are more motivated to play that type of music like your favorite song or something. But if you are more into the soft acoustic music than the acoustic is better because you are more motivated to play that. So you can't really decide which is easier because it really depends on the person. Hope This Helped! Good Luck!

If you are serious about playing then you should think about investing in one around 200-300 dollars. You will get a decent guitar...yes only decent. If you want something good then go for a Gibson for only around 800 dollars

I thought I was getting a bargain by getting a Jasmine Takamine for 100 dollars, but ended up getting tired of playing it. Cheap guitars don't inspire you to play.

Most guitar players suggest fender and yamaha are the best acoustics for their price so save 200 dollars or so and get something that you want to keep.

If you get a very cheap beginner model, you may get discouraged before you even get a good start because they are harder to play, have tuning problems and other issues.

Maybe you could try Blue Ridge or Washburn. But if you get a good guitar to start out with, maybe you would be more motivated to stick with it once you have invested a lot of money.

If you decide to do that, try Santa Cruz, Martin or Collins.

    Good luck!

Find an acoustic guitar with nylon strings, not the metal ones.

when you get callouses on the tips of your fingers, that's the time to switch to the metal strings.
