dead iPod?

Hi... My wife's 1st Gen iPod nano has died. She does not use it often, and apparently she let the battery run out from lack of use. I've been trying to revive, but to no avail. Any tips/suggestions?

Update:

I've tried a wall USB adapter as well as the computer USb ctransfer cable. Still no results, as you can guess.

    Sounds like the battery is kaput. I would send to Apple for repair.
