You are lucky to get out in 8 hours, a lot of us do not get that and have to stay later.

because of unions. All the riots back in the first of the century actually shortened the work day to 8 hours but yeah i agree im ready to go home 3 hours into a shift:)

That has been the standard, set I guess by unions. Back in the days when working12 hours was considered to be a short day.
Maybe you are burnt out and it is time for a job change.

the protestant work ethic is partly to blame. spain is quite nice, so is china. both countries offer a 2 hour break for lunch
