Yahoo Answers is shutting down on May 4th, 2021 (Eastern Time) and beginning April 20th, 2021 (Eastern Time) the Yahoo Answers website will be in read-only mode. If I check my personal e-mail at work, how is my office able to read it w/o a password? *read the details*?

Once I open an e-mail on my office computer, are the contents of it saved onto the computer? What about other e-mails that I have not opened? Should I not read/write personal e-mails at work?

**I'm NOT talking about the office e-mail; I'm talking about my personal Yahoo! e-mail account.

    Liz,

As long as you have a banner displayed before you log on using your credentials, that you must physically click "ok" to that states and of the following:

While using this computer yadda yadda, you have the possibility of being monitored for website activity and by clicking OK you agree to that nothing is private, well your place of business has your consent to keep and monitor all personal email done from your work's network.

You should look over your company's SOP for Computer Awareness training. Most of companies have them for this very reason. I can tell you this first hand, personal email accounts are frowned upon for the mere fact that attachments can contain Malware that can be detrimental to companies networks. I hope this information helps and I am willing to bet, personal email if forbidden at your place of work.

Update as I have read other posts: Check out software from St. Bernard which can record and monitor any site traffic regardless if it's Secure Socket Layer or not. You are making the connection through your works network and screenshots and logs can be captured for any WEBSITE period!

To answer your question...I had a real jerk of a boy friend one for 2 years and the only good that came out if it is I learned some great computer stuff!!

The reason hes a jerk is I had forgotten my Yahoo Password and i tried everything. He told me to wait outside the room where the computer was and he would get it for me!! Well, in 5 mins he had it. I didn't ask questions I figured I would go on later and figure out how he did that.

Sure enough....spy ware!! Your office or anyone your with can download spyware and any thing you type will be shown. You wont know its there unless you have the secret word that you type into your computer to upload everything you have ever done on there.

It will show everything. Every e-mail sent to you I mean everything. Its like a video recording.. Its messed up and not a cool thing to do!!

    So I would be careful!!

    1) Unless the connection (to Yahoo) is secure (using SSL), then then information is readable by the company.

    2) If it IS secure, then they can't see what was said, just who the connection was to (Yahoo)

    3) Your emails are temporarily saved to your local hard drive. Depending on how your computer is set up, the cache (where the emails are stored) may or my not be cleared when you exit your browser.

    4) Do NOT assume that ANYTHING you do on the computer at work is private.

Hi there! Not sure if your e-mails are actually saved. But, even when checking your Yahoo mail, the bottom line is, you are using a computer that belongs to your work. Whatever gets saved, if anything, is theirs to do with what they please.

they probably have some sort of spyware on there computers, a lot of companies do and yes they can read the ones you have read and they can see what all websites were visited etc. you should not check your personal email at work unless you dont mind them reading it and also you shouldnt do it in case they have rules against this.

Every web site that you visit leaves a cookie on your computer its as simple as checking your history,There are such programs as network watcher were if you have a system administrator they can watch your monitor and your actions thru out the day
