What's worth seeing in Pittsburgh, PA?

I'm going to be in Pittsburgh in April, for Mensa Mindgames. Usually, this is an in and out thing over a weekend, but I'm willing to add a day or two to my trip (and rent a car if necessary) to hang around if it seems worthwhile.

What's worth seeing in Pittsburgh? Will I need a car? (I'll likely be staying in a hotel near the airport.)

Update:

I have not booked my flight yet, but I'll probably use Continental, since they have a hub here in Houston.

"Mensa" and "Pittsburgh"--two words not often spoken in the same sentence! Are you flying into Pittsburgh on Useless Airways? I pity you.

If you are willing to rent a car and go see something pretty great about an hour out of Pittsburgh, go to Fallingwater. Fallingwater is the Frank Lloyd Wright designed home built over a waterfall. It was the home to Edgar Kaufmann and his wife, of the Kaufmann's Department Stores.

A lot of the other things the others said are pretty cool as well. Do go to Oakland and checkout the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie-Mellon Universities, and all of the other cultural offerings of that area.

Go to the Bloomfield Bridge Tavern in Bloomfield for some good pierogies and an IC Light (start you off with the light stuff, then work your way up to an Iron City Beer). Tell Steve the Daytons sent you.

I'd bone up on the language before I went, though. The natives say "Yinz" for the "you plural." They also say "an' 'at" (and that) at the end of every sentence. Everybody is a "jagoff." An example of a phrase you would use to try to fit in: "Yinz jagoffs goin' up 'ere an' 'at? GO STILLERS!" Translation: " Would you happen to be going up there? Go Steelers!"

Unless you own at least 5 pieces of Pittsburgh Steelers apparel, they will know you are not a native and will most likely attempt to run you out of town with pitchforks and torches. Just kidding about that part--they have flashlights now!

Museum's, Mexican war district, South Side, Station Square, Downtown, the Inclines to Mount Washington....

Lots to see; but if you are staying at the airport, you will either have to depend on a pretty decent bus system and taxi or rent a car. I'd rent

    The Andy Warhol Museum

it's on the north side of downtown

Pittsburgh has a grate bus system but the air port is pretty far from downtown so it will take a long time going by bus
