Guitar pros-I have a question for you...?

So, I am interested in purchasing a G&L Comanche guitar. I've always liked them, their feel & sound. I recognize that G&L is technically a Fender since it was Leo Fender's last company before he passed away. My question is this...what did he create & or modify within G&L that he couldn't with Fender. The ASAT & other models are Strats & Teles but what other differences are there. The Comanche guitar is priced much higher $1200 range retail (might be marked up quite a bit here) than the average American made strat $700-800). If anyone can provide me with any info. I'd appreciate it. -Karen

This is coming from a person that would never own a Fender but has 3 G&L's...

G&L guitars are the finest that Leo had to offer and although there may not be too much as far as differences in appearances there are many differences in construction and craftsmanship. Many innovations that were thought to be too expensive to use on Fenders are featured on G&L.. and the list is VERY long.

It is my personal opinion that artists build G&Ls and workers build Fenders, something all by itself is sufficient to make the guitars worth the money.

I think Leo just took the Strat and Tele a bit further with G&L, of course Leo had to make a name change from the original models. I believe those staggered looking pickups and the design for the ASAT bridge were contributions by Leo. I'm not sure what George (the "G" in G&L) Fullerton's input was..

I don't know much about G &L karen,, but i do play Fender guitars...... 700-800 Strats are the newer ones made in mexico, china and so forth......Look at the ones made in USA and there will be a sig. price diff. they're 1200 + like u r talking about. If I'm not mistaken G and L's are made in Cali.....That's prob. where ur seein the diff. And for the record....Yes a USA Strat is better than a "china" one....better pickups and so fort so on.....That's my opinion though!
