Adding memory is not difficult but you have to get the correct memory for your make/model of pc; use the sites mentioned above. Avoid generic memory modules. Was that gentle enough?

First there appears to be some confusion in the answers as to what memory is:
Memory would normally be RAM (random access memory) this comes as little circuit boards which slot into your computer. Extra RAM would help your computer to handle more tasks at one time and be generally quicker.
On the other hand, storage space is sometimes referred to (wrongly) as memory - this is your hard-disk(s)
Adding a hard-disk will give you more storage space. These tasks (adding RAM or a hard-drive) can easily be done by the enthusiastic amateur who can afford a few mistakes, but if you really know nothing about computers, get your local computer store to do it for you, or buy an external USB hard-drive (for backup though rather than loading programmes on to).
To find out what RAM you need and how much you can add to your PC, visit http://www.crucial.com/ they have an application which can look at your PC and recommend suitable RAM upgrade.
hope this helps
I have done both these type of upgrades on a couple of computers myself

yes you can add more memory to your computor, ive read the others didnt see but a lot of b.s. now the memory comes in pairs and should be both the same they are about 6 inches long and locked into place by 2 hooks on both ends , push them down and lift out , need to unplug the pc and look at what it says on the sid and or take it to circut city or some place of your liking and the price can be low or high depending on if its for sale and how hi the mem is good lick and be carefull

Yes. It's not that hard, and the instruction on the memory you buy should be enough. Like they said, BestBuy and others can set it up for you. If you're doing it yourself, the most important thing is to make sure you dont have any static electricity on you. The hard part of adding RAM is finding which type you want to buy.

Depends on what memory you are looking for. If you are looking to be able to save more music or other files, then I suggest you get an external hard drive. You can get one for $100 with 250 GB of space, which is more than enough to save everything! Check compusa every week and you will surely find great deals!

its easy all you need to do is compare the current cables to the hard disk you are buying. and connect the identical wires. one should be like a wide grey/white belt(about 7cm wide). and another should be like thin yellow , black and red wires connected to a 3 cm long plastic one. hope you are increasing a hard disc and not a ram since ram are different yet easier

Yes you can, and it's fairly easy. Check out crucial.com and kingston.com for compatible upgrades. Instructions will come with the memory.
