Has anyone been to Ripley's Believe It Or Not Aquarium in Gatlinburg, TN?

If so, is it worth going to see and does it have many species in it?

Yes, we loved it and are actually planning on going back this weekend! The aquarium is 1.4 million gallons with over 10,000 sea animals. There is an underwater tunnel that you can walk through to get an up close view, mainly of the sharks which seem to mystify the kids. There are several other smaller exhibits, including an exhibit where you can actually pet a stingray! They also have an adventure station where kids can actually touch and interact with certain items. It is fairly expensive ($17.99 for adults, $9.99 for kids 6 - 11, $3.99 for kids 2 - 5, and kids under 2 are free), but if you've never been, it's worth it to go at least once. Besides, they have a money back guarantee if you're not satisfied! If you're interested in some of the other Ripley's attractions in Gatlinburg, here's a link to save some money on a combo ticket - http://www.what-to-do.com/smoky_mountains/pdfs/cou... You should also pick up some of the local papers when you arrive, as we've found numerous discount coupons in this manner.

    Have a great time!

Went to the Ripley's Aquarium in Myrtle Beach SC and it was really nice. There were a lot of different species and a huge aquarium that had a moving side walk through the middle of it so that the fish swim right over your head. Really well done.

    Yes, I have!

I wouldn't say it is worth going to see. It has lots of species, but lots considering the variety in existence isn't really impressive.

I would only suggest going if you would like to visit other small shops and tourist attractions of Gatlinburg. If you do plan on going, if it is at all possible, you should definitely stay in the mountains. Pricey, yes, but it is worth it. A breath-taking view (in the fall anyway), crisp air, and an incredible pungance that pervades the woods. It can be romantic, adventurous, relaxing, etc.

And, of course, touristy spots like the aquarium can always be 'interesting' too :)

Yes, I enjoyed it. It is expensive, but it is cool looking at all the different aquatic animals. I myself think its a bit overpriced, and easy to get bored. I wouldn't go again just because it seemed short and not worth the lines of people and the cost of everything there.

I can't remember about the species. But I do remember it had a number of sharks, eels, and other big fish. They also had this little hands on thing where you can touch horseshoe crabs and stuff.
