I'd feel just as crazy and frustrated. Didn't your insurance agent suggest your car, being fairly new, be also covered for theft and vandalism? Did you have collision coverage, which might be a stretch as far as your car being wrecked? Or, how about the "uninsured motorist" clause for it being stolen? I obviously don't know the specifics regarding car insurance coverage, so these suggestions may not apply. Hate to say it, but the one thing I do know is that you can never have enough insurance these days.

Mitsubishi makes great cars. Our son has a 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer, and my husband and I had Mirage and Expo models back in the early 90's -- loved them, never had any mechanical problems, and road them "into the ground" since they were so dependable.

Good luck and sorry to hear about your unfair misfortune.

I would feel like I've learned how foolish I was about the insurance, not having a theft prevention device, and wishing I could go back and have another opportunity to do it all over again. I would have moments of disbelief and night sweats. I would fantasize about catching the low life who stole the car and inflicting serious damage to his cranium. Then I would sell the parts of the car on ebay to raise as much money as I could to put towards another vehicle with a anti-theft device and theft insurance. In America a Car is Stolen every 3 seconds. That should tell you something.

Spend the next several years thinking what a dumb a$$ I have been. The choice of liability only insurance was a statement by you that you could afford to lose the car, if that wasn't true then you need to think about it differently next time. But then I'm sure that's gone through your mind a thousand times already...

You had a 2003 that was paid off and didn't have full coverage insurance? And it was your dream car? Hmm...how would I feel if it was me? Pretty stupid.

    live and learn.

I have done the liability only thing before, but only with cars that are worth about $2k or less. anything more than that and you are just asking for heartache.

I would go get a 'Shaft' outfit, and go roam the streets and take justice into my own hands. Ask questions, beat people up, find out who it was and then curb stomp that mofo!

sad and mad but there's nothing you can do now except get another car. and maybe get full coverage next time so if it happens again you will be able to get money to buy a new car.
