What I really hate about Yahoo Answers?
I have participated in several forums and message boards, other than Y!A but unfortunately I have to say this: On every other board that I have posted questions or participated in discussions, I have met the best, most intelligent, friendliest, and most polite people. Although they may not know answers to every question of mine, they would still respond in a very friendly manner. But unfortunately, that is not the case with Yahoo Answers.
In the last 7 months that I have been on Y!A, I initially felt it was very good (just like the other boards, that I have mentioned about) - but over the last 3 or 4 months, things seem to have changed a lot. I find a lot of people giving unintelligent answers to my questions, too many people answering to score 2 pts each time & worst of all the people who write provocative answers without any relevance to the question, but just to make the questioner angry or force to agree with them, this has become very common. I am particularly appalled at the young black kids who come online & post messages where they use nasty Ebonics swear words. How do their parents even raise them, much better let them participate in a public forum?
How many of you agree with me on this?

My response to your question is my comments sent to the Yahoo A/Q team.
This tells you how I feel too! And I hope that others will do the same as I did.

MY OPINION ABOUT THE YAHOO “QUESTIONS/ANSWERS” COMMUNITY:
The idea is not only excellent but a very useful one too! However, the planning, design and implementation of the interchange format is inadequate, imbalanced, unruly and unfair; leaving a lot to be desired for a mutually beneficial and intelligent environment.
Most of the questions that are allowed to be posted are a mockery of the English language in every respect. Incomplete in thought and data, incoherently worded, deficiently stated and instigative in nature to say the least. Let’s not make mention of the totally senseless and idiotic ones. Yet, the Yahoo team ignores all these inadequacies and chooses to penalize the answerer with the deduction of meaningless/worthless points; instead of either stop the posting of a dim-witted question and/or reprimanding the questioner.
It is my view that the format of asking a question should not be so wide open as is now but it ought to be in the form of a template that would obligate the questioner to fill certain necessary blanks that would identify and qualify the need for asking a question. Also, it should include general personal data like country, mother language, education, profession, age, etc. so that the answerer knows with who is dealing and how to ward his/her answer. This could be very helpful in handling abrasive/unruly youngsters.
The same approach, as above, should be used for those who report others just because they have nothing better to do and they feel doing so. The same restrictive rules should also apply to those askers who elect to award the answerer with the best answer not because they are sincere about it but because they wish to ridicule the answerer instead of at least saying “Thank You.”
Another thing that needs to be considered is when it comes to questions pertaining to hardware/software or other high tech equipment/gadgetry, the questioner ought to be obligated to give at least the minimum basic information about his/her system/item. Also, for other types of general questions, the questioner ought to be prompted with a reminder for more data that would support his/her inquiry and therefore, receive a better answer.

dont know about the black kid thing ,as i am not a prophet
but yes people that dont agree with you can be very rude
the quality of many answers is poor .
many people answer anything just to get points
there seems to be some heavy cheating going on with people gaining a lot of points that cannot be explained
i had some points and best answers stolen ,
(and i am too stupid to know how this is done )
the abuse and thumbs button that were invented to deal with perverts, rascists and rude people ,instead end up abusing everybody by anybody who is narrow minded or vendictive.
that is my contribution to your question

My beef with the respondents here are the ones who have no apparent grasp of the most basic use of the English language. Heaven forbid they try to use the spell check. Truly, is the public school system in the US that pathetic that people can't form a complete sentence or spell even simple words?

I agree with most of what you have said. Please try to ignore the junk as much as you can and know that there really are people out here who want to help if they can. Also try to understand that there are those out here who Imitate others to see what kind of reaction they can get. Hope this Helps>

That is a very true statement. Besides the black kids all kids do this no matter what color in my opinion.
