2000 Chevy Silverado C3500 with a Vortec 454?
I recently had to change out my waterpump. There aren't any leaks and everything is hooked back up correctly. The problem I have ran into is that now the heater don't work. Could the thermostat have gotten stuck closed? The temperature guage reads normal just as it always had but the heat isn't working.
If there is an air bubble in the system, how do I get it out?
Water Pump seems to be fine. The thermostat is opening and closing like it should. Temperature is fine at idle and at operating speeds.
There is no return coolant coming back out of the heater core.

If everything was okay before replacement was done, then you either have a bad water pump as in it cannot pump enough to supply the heater or most likely you have an air lock inside the coolant system. Try parking the truck on an angle with the rad cap at the highest point and alternately run till hot and let it cool down. Sometimes you have to rev the crap out of these to get the bubble to pop out. If it isn't overheating, run at high revs while driving and they should come out. I've never seen one that sounds this stubborn. Just be sure the pump is working properly.

I would say heater valve but I think they quit using those in the ninety's, most likely it's the blend door motor in your dash, yes, an absolute pain to get to. If you haven't done it before find somebody who has to give you advice or take it some where. Of course you could buy an electric heater to plug into your cig lighter. And you have the final option of freezing to death while driving with frozen windows that you can't see out of. :) Good Luck

not closed but it might be stuck open,you probably have an air bubble in your cooling system.
