The United Kingdom is a country made up of four smaller countries--England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. It's actually not as big as the last poster says. It used to be, though. It's an island, so it was great at ship building and sailing, and about 250 years ago it took over massive amounts of territory all around the world (including parts of North America, Australia, Africa, and India). That was all called the British Empire (because the UK is also called Great Britain). Now, it's lost most of it's empire and it's just a smallish island again.
It's in Europe. It's head of government is Tony Blair. It's language is English. It's people love to eat baked beans and drink tea. It's produced a lot of famous singers/bands.
