First off, talk to your mom about your desire to lose weight. Try to explain to her that while you understand she wants to buy inexpensive foods, some of the food she buys is not healthy enough for your to have a good lifestyle.

If she doesn't want to change her shopping habits, try going with her. There are a lot of foods you can buy that are not very expensive and that are healthy. For instance, salads. You don't need to buy pre-packaged salads. Instead, try buying different kinds of lettuce and mixing it together. Get fat free dressings when it's on sale, or even better, buy vinegars when they are on sale for dressings.

Also, Safeway and stores like it always have sales on yogurt (great snack and healthy), you can buy chicken breast (very low cal and low fat, but high protein and healthy for you), and you can also buy oatmeal (inexpensive) and eggs for breakfast.

You should try to learn to cook, so that you can prepare your own meals that are healthier than what your mom is making you.

Also, although you are working out 5 days a week you might want to up the intensity of your workouts. Instead of walking on the treadmill, try jogging. Use elliptical if you have weaker joints. Bike for 20-30 minutes. Do light weights.

Another thing is that 2000 calories a day is too much for women to be eating if you want to lose weight. The FDA has recently lowered its daily calorie recommendations. Women should eat no more than 1600 calories a day to maintain, and 1200-1400 to lose weight depending on your metabolism.

    Good luck!!

Fresh fruits and vegetables are pretty cheap. Maybe she wants you to be overweight.
