Has the political correctness movement gone too far? Are we losing our right to free speech?

We are not loosing our freedom of speech, we are going to the extreme to allow view points rammed down our throats. Example, a company sending out mass emails, gets labeled as spammers. A guy who got blasted with emails from this " travel company" sends a letter to them and they sue him. Courts uphold the companies right to freedom of speech, which, means they can send out mass spam mail.

What has happened to our rights??? Our rights not to get spammed, not have someones values rammed down our throats, not have someones ideas and thoughts forced upon us?

Yes, politically correct has gone too far, to take away many of our rights so "we" don't offend others.

Of course! People back in the 50's and 60's used to protest when they didn't like something. That turned heads of course, and now everyone is on some sort of equality movement. No one wants to offend. But at the same time we are taking our rights away as speakers. The president impliments laws to make it seem like hes trying to keep Americans safe...well they are spying. And that has alot to do with freedom of speach too.

If you pay real good attention. Everytime Bush does something that seems news worthy......deep a little deeper because that is when they start implimenting crazy *** laws....freedom of speech could be next. See I can't say *** on yahoo.

Every year Americans have what we call voting. We vote for laws in the U.S as well as state laws amd city laws. That is when you can find some crazy *** things going on.

I can't stand how far political correctness has gone, but you still have the freedom to say what you want. "Political Correctness" is just the a bunch of nuts telling you what you should & should not say, not what you are allowed & not allowed to say.

Now, if you got arrested for being "politically incorrect" THAT would be a denial of freedom of speech.

Yes we are definately losing freedom of speech in the areas that are important while gaining it in areas that I would not even consider speech. One area that has been severly restricted recently is in pre-election politics. The McCain Feingold campaign finance reform made it difficult for the most important type of expression, political expression. It has made it more difficult for legitimate interests to promote their message while special interests have used the pac's to overemphasize their message(i.e. george soros.)

The double standard from universities for conservative speech compared to liberal speech is also a major problem. You should look at Mike Adams. He is a criminal justice professor and a editorialist who focuses on this issue. He mentioned one university that fought to prevent him from speaking but paid an honorarium for a sex expert to come and teach students how to use pornography.

He is pretty outrageous but he is trying to make a valid point namely that freedom of speech at government funded univerisities is only for liberals.

It seems we are definitely headed that way...the current definition of "politically correct" is very biased.
