Need a good elem school for child.?

We have recently moved to Las Vegas, and we are looking for a good quality elem. school, we need help. Our daughter is starting KDG.. Any suggestions or web sites would be useful. Have heard some of the public ones are not that good.. Thanks for all of your help out there. Living in Henderson area and searching for a home, would like to pick a school first then find a home around the school..

    Henderson has good schools. Go to the zoning section and type in a street addy and it will show the school within that zone. Each school has what is called an accountability report, that shows all the statistics pertained to that school.

    Here is a school I have been thinking about registering my boys for next year.

    EDIT: Well my boys go to an elementary school here in Central Vegas. The majority of families are low income, and there are as many or more spanish speaking kids as English speaking. These Elementary schools set a high standard. I have been nothing but impressed by the structure and teaching in the school. I am an "in your face parent". I have a relationship with their teachers, and demand the best from them.....with a smile. Kids do not succeed if their parents do not help in the process. Clark County gets a bad rep from the middle and high school kids, in my opinion. Even if my kids have to goto those schools, I will continue to demand the best and do my job as a parent to further educate them. Hopefully after Elementary I will start homeschooling. School violence is just WAY too scary anymore.

    do a google on nevada school testing reports. Here's a good site to start you on: http://www.greatschools.net/

    You want to check on their testing results. Tests are done in 4th grade, but since it is elementary schools, it will help show you the overall grade for the school. Also, ask around. Generally, higher income neighborhoods have better schools. School's 'report cards' are public information.

    Your best bet for a good elementary school would probably be Mountain View Christian Academy or any other parochial school. {Unfortunately, the Clark County School District isn't known for being one of the better districts in the country.}

    If your familiy budget can handle it, I think this would be your best bet for a good school. (no "Vegas pun" intended.)
