The white house said the president would veto a bill that congress is scheduled to pass requiring negotiating?
lower drug prices for medicare! That would save the tax payers, and the retiree quite a bit of money! Why on Earth would Bush veto this bill? If he can afford to spend Billions in Iraq how can he justify failing to reduce the necessary costs of health to our seniors?

The president has issued this as his way of playing hardball with his agenda in Iraq in regard to financial and troop increase support.
If Congress wants his co-operation they have to approve his foreign policy reconstruction for the war in Iraq.
If you don't give me what I want.... I will veto everything you want!!!
Responsible legislaturing ....eh!
How proud am I that my president is going to hold his breath like a 3 year old if he doesn't get his way!!
Unfortunately important legislation that affects most Americans will have to wait until a new administration is in place.
Hopefully you and many other Americans can keep deciding whether to eat or pay for your medications for the next 2 years.
And I KNOW first hand that isn't an exaggeration! I have an 80 year old Grandmother who pays out over $500 a month for medications and if her family didn't help subsidize her monthly groceries she wouldn't have them!!

I suppose even God loves a liberal but I wish you guys would stop regrinding the tired Pelosi press releases. More liberal pap. The problem is its not that simple. Many drugs, especially orphan ones have a very limited production and user base and the idea of negotiated contracts would elminate any possiblity of these getting produced. The average time of producing these types of drugs is over ten years each and there is an astronomical amount of money gone into research. In other words depsite the diatribe of the pelosi ites...it can infact permanently alter the marketplace and not for the good. Profit based companies when faced with losses simply dont produce things that loose.
Now to address your last ..."point". Again, with the Pelosi press releases...sheesh. Lots of liberals voted on this one pal. We had no reason at all not to suspect WMDs as the un was not being complied with and Iraq had PLENTY of time to move them before invasion occurred. Richard Butler, Un investigator had found the casings for the gas bombs and also found evidence of a tracking system showing these couldve easily been moved in the time indicated. The problem with liberal media bias, it seems, is liberals actually belive it.
One has nothing to do with the other and as in Iraq...its about safety and survivial...not being cheap. In the future, just so you know, Pelosi press releases are about liberal power grab politics, not reality.

Perhaps the White House had another reason for threatening the veto, rather than the one you concocted to make Bush look bad.
Before we can make a judgment, we should really know what that reason was? What kind of pork was in the bill? Have you characterized the bill appropriately? Can you provide a link with more information?
