Have some police officers forgotten their mandate?
To serve and protect, they say.
Completely respecting the hardships police officers face on a day to day basis, as I am one of the ambulance drivers behind you, have some officers forgotten that people are innocent until proven guilty? I know legally police officers really need no reason to pull you over, or ask you questions, but where has politeness gone? Where has deciency gone? Where has respect for the common man gone?
Yes, I know you deal with scum everyday, but does that give you the right to treat the rest of us like that?

I've been treated with a great deal of respect by law enforcement in the past. Fortunately, I've never been on the wrong side of the law aside from some traffic stuff. I do think though, that police officers are people too and because of the nature of their job they're vulnerable to being influenced by each other and the type of people they often have to deal with and they sometimes forget that not everyone is a criminal. It would be great if officers could participate in some positive things for the community that gives them a sense that others are not all out to break the law and get away with something, like getting involved with more charities and community outreach programs as part of their jobs.

I'm a veteran paramedic and find that most police officers in my state are very professional and courteous.
I have met some that are not and it is not an attitude that I personally tolerate. I'm senior enough to be able to get such matters addressed and you must must remember that they, and we, and others are just there to serve the public and have no right to be rude to anyone.
Fortunately any rude attitude in my state is rare and is frowned upon by the more professional police officers here.
Such officers would never make a comment such as "The next time you are on a call with a combative patient, don't call us because we wouldn't want to be rude."
They will go to where they are dispatched promptly, without question and respond in a professional and courteous manner.

In our state, the officer most definately needs a reason to pull you over.
I agree that some officers can come across as rude, it's probably lack of training as to how to control a potentially bad situation without being a jerk. Control comes with experience I think. Sometimes, it could be that they are having a bad day, but most of the time it's a direct reflection of the other person's attitude. Overall, I think most officers try to remain polite, just to keep bad things from getting worse. And like you said, where has the decency gone? They don't get any.
People aren't happy to see cops like they are to see you when you arrive on an incident.
You're innocent until proven guilty in court. On the street, I think you're guilty until the cop knows you aren't going to try to blow his head off. Rare and few are the times a person has taken a shot at an ambulance crew when compared to cops. I know that sounds dramatic but it's true. They are people just like you and me. It's hard to explain to people who aren't living it. Not saying you don't see your fair share of crap but try being up close, in it's face, and it's directed towards you. All the time.
And even if you did everything right, there's still someone to criticize something, always something. Gets old, and a person just shuts down. I'm not saying a cop has a right to be a jerk, and some just plain are. I'm just saying, to protect and serve is a tall order that eventually takes it's toll.

As the wife of a fireman and an officer myself, I can speak from personal experience. I have seen many a medic be just as rude especially at 300 in the A.M dealing with a drunk or druggie. As far as your question is concerned I agree that it does happen at time. Just like when you go to the grocery store and get frustrated that the lady in front of you won't stop jaw jacking with the cashier. How many people do you know who are polite to officers? I love my job and I love people as a whole but have been criticized for taking a drink or bathroom break for wasting the taxpayers dollars. The next time you are on a call with a combative patient, don't call us because we wouldn't want to be rude.

I have met very nice police officers and ive met some that id walk right by if I saw them on fire. You meet all types in this world.Human decency seems not to be a job requirement in Law enforcement. When I get pulled over I get nervous to think of how im going to be treated, like a criminal dirtbag or a honest hardworking individual.Ive been all over the USA and one state I have found that treats just about everyone I know like a pile of sh!t is Georgia.I guess they train their officers there to act like army drill seargents.Theres all types in this world.
Again id like to say that you cant hold prejudices against everyone, just because some officers that give the badge a bad name.

You did not action picture the substitute, i anticipate. So there is no information, different than the written value tag. particular, you could take a image of the value decrease sign in that section, and modern-day it to the choose. yet look at your value tag, and notice if there are little examine-off bins for registration and coverage. maximum possibly, the regulation is going to assist the 'modern-day evidence upon call for' caveat. simply by fact it wasn't a extensive concern - i could concentration on what i will modern-day for my case to prevail, and not anger the choose and police rigidity. that's not approximately commencing a fire to make your self look sturdy, yet particularly, a thank you to have your costs lessened simply by a technicality (which you will image and civilly grant.) happen finding presentable, make a variety impression, and help your case prevail easily.Have a healthful and happy bounce year!

The correct term is PRESUMED innocent until proven guilty, and that applies at court. An officer is not going to assume you are innocent if he witnessed what you did.
