What is the difference between feeder mice and fancy mice?
I have fancy mice but what is the difference? Are feeder mice wild and untamed? What would be wrong with owning a feeder mice as a pet? I was just randomly thinking about it.
Every fancy mouse i see is spotted and has some color when i see feeder mice they are all white with red eyes. fancy have black..
I know there is a difference in price feeder mice are around 2 bucks when my fancy mice were 6 each. but i mean if i wanted a feeder mouse in with my fancy would it be okay?

If you buy your mice at pet stores, there is no difference between feeder mice and fancy mice. The mice are labled for whichever will give the store the most money in the cash register.
Just as with rats, pet store mice are mass produced in the same way that puppy mills work. Their health is not the best, but they are not meant to be long-lived.
I know of one store that would pick out the fancier looking mice from a shipment and put these mice aside as pets. The rest would be sold as reptile food.
If you want healthy, fancy mice bred strictly for pets, you need to buy from an ethical, compassionate, breeder.
"Feeder" mice need not be wild and untamed. They can be very friendly towards their human care-givers, and make good pets, albeit, not as healthy.

Feeder mice and fancy mice are the same species. You can perfectly well have a feeder mouse for a pet. I would hope (but not guarantee) that a breeder of fancy mice would pay more attention to the heredity, health, care and handling of the mice. Since feeder mice are not expected to live long anyway, the breeder may not be concerned about temperament or inbreeding. But if you see a feeder mouse you like, there is no reason not to buy it for a pet.
The same goes for rats.

i use to breed and raise them. the differance being between the to is only one thing all mice and rat are feeders until the person selling them desides a fancy mouse or rat gets trained to except being handled by humans it is not a long prosses they train very fast fancy rats heg handled and played with every day to get them use to being a pet some handlers do not do this and just lable them this way but a good breeder will handle them every day this will keep them from being scared and will also keep them from fear bitting a person when hanndled feeder's generally are not hanndled much except for the nessecary nail triming there is nothing special that goes in to feeders while fance gets more handling and some times they are a product of special breeding to get the colors the breeder wants.

Well feeder mice are used to feed snakes and not meant to be pets (that's why they're cheaper to buy). Fancy mice aren't as cheap because people have them as pets and don't feed them to snakes.

My friend works in a pet shop; feeder mice are pretty cheap ($.50 each) and are used to feed snakes who dont like frozen animals nuked. I've also considered getting one for my kitten to ponce on a few times, but thats cuz she's just a fiesty cat.
Also, feeder mice you have the option of being killed in-store for your convience. Its... not a pretty sight. They just beat the mouse/mice on a counter. Lyssa doesnt like to do that part, so she doesnt.
But i dont see anything wrong with getting one as a pet.
